TAKING THE INITIATIVE, FERNDALE AND TRAVERSE CITY

We were able to replicate our success in both of the other target cities in 2005.

Although each is an interesting tale in its own right, the details do not bear repeating here as they add little to the most important lessons learned in previous efforts and already described above.

And the most fundamental lesson is simply this: Any reformer who is willing to take the lessons for which we paid a big price - in blood, sweat, tears and treasure - can succeed in changing the law. Not only do you not need the cooperation of politicians and the rest of the establishment, you can actually impose the change over their active opposition!

You can win by the oldest of all American traditions: "Direct Democracy" - if you are willing to take the initiative.
