The Multiple Sclerosis Patients Union is a network of patients, caregivers, health professionals and friends dedicated to supporting persons with multiple sclerosis in their efforts to obtain safe and legal access to therapeutic cannabis.

Introducing "The MS Patients Union"

Dear Friends:

After joining together in Washington DC in late September 2003 for the Cheryl Miller Memorial Project, a number of MS patients and supporters decided they would like to create an ongoing group of patients, caregivers, and advocates as a "Multiple Sclerosis Patients Union" for medical marijuana.

As some of organizers and participants of the Cheryl Miller Memorial Project, we have taken it upon ourselves to help facilitate the formation of this group. The MS Patients Union is not only a support network for MS patients who use or might want to use marijuana as medicine and their caregivers; but also a vehicle for political lobbying and public education. The MSPU also advocates for the active support of the U.S. National MS Society, which sadly, has not been forthcoming, leaving many patients and caregivers in the dark about the therapeutic potential of marijuana as an MS treatment.

During the time in DC, over a dozen MS patients along with caregivers and supporters met with the DC chapter to tell how marijuana benefits them and to ask the chapter to convey to the national office that it is time to recognize marijuana as an MS treatment. The success of that visit shows it is time to take this message to local chapters across the U.S., and groups of MSPU members will soon be doing just that.
